Curse of the Clock Tower
I went for a concert at Barber today, by the Bugallo-Williams Piano Duo. Before that I had dinner with Pohning/Ning/Poot (:P). We walked past the clock tower on our way there and were reminded of the supposed curse: you fail all your exams if you walk under the clock tower. While it seems like some made-up story, I dare not try it and wait to see if it's true. It's like how I know certain things are just silly superstitions, but I still try to avoid doing such things. Most of the time it's the consequence that provoke fear I guess. I don't believe in stupid little things like 'if you point at the moon your ears will be cut off', but it's a different matter with things like 'if you sew while you're pregnant your child will be disfigured'. It's not as if I believe it's true, I know it's a superstition, but the notion of the possibility of causing the disfiguration of my child through my actions is just way too scary. So there are some superstitions that might be disputed wholeheartedly in my mind, yet I would never be brave enough to even dream of proving them wrong.
