Pohning came to borrow my flat's vacuum cleaner cos she couldn't find her flat's, so I got it for her from the storeroom in the kitchen and wanted to help her bring it to her flat. Without giving a second thought, we both stepped out of my flat and let the door shut by itself. When we'd got the vacuum cleaner to her flat, I told her to call me or something when she was done with it, and turned to go back to my flat. But I realised I didn't take my key with me! -____-''' Of all times, I had to do it during the holidays... sigh.
However, two of my flatmates have been staying here during the holidays so we went and rang the doorbell. But nobody answered. We remembered seeing half-eaten food on the table in the kitchen and shortly before Pohning called I heard someone answer the door and I think it was a take-away delivery. It was so weird that she had ordered food and then left it on the table half-eaten. I thought maybe she went out to meet her friend or Pohning suggested she might be bathing or something. After vacuuming, we rang the doorbell again but still, nobody answered so we left the vacuum cleaner outside my flat.
I called Shackleton hall's reception using Pohning's phone but the person said there weren't many people there so I might have to wait until quite late. I told him I'd be in Pohning's flat. It was already 7 plus or something like that, so Pohning went to cook dinner while I watched Ice Age 1 on her computer. She asked whether I wanted to eat but I had already washed and cut lady's fingers before she came to my flat. After Ice Age, we went on to Water Boys, and halfway through we stopped again cos it was past 9 o'clock and there still hadn't been anybody ringing the doorbell. So I called Shackleton again, and they told me to wait until they changed shifts at 10 something, and asked whether I was stuck outside or whether I had somewhere to go. So I said I was in Pohning's flat, and the person said he'll write that on the paper.
11 o'clock, and still nobody... I called Shackleton again. 'Oh, we just sent someone but there wasn't anybody there.' Erm! I told you I'd be in Pohning's flat! Two times! 'Ok, if you wait there now we'll send someone over'. Pohning said, 'Huh wait outside? But it's so cold!' I ended up waiting at the door, opening it a crack to peep out and listen for sounds. At least they really meant now, the person came quite quickly, driving one of the white minivans the uni's staff use. He said he came by fifteen minutes ago cos there was a call reporting a power trip in my flat, but there was nobody so he left. I was like huh?! Power trip? And I told them two times that I'll be waiting in Pohning's flat!
There still wasn't anybody at home, so I still dunno where the power trip call came from. I guess either they mistook me on the phone saying there was a power trip, or someone in flat 21 is still living in the dark waiting for people to go reset the power. It's probably flat 21... how can 'I'm locked out of my flat' sound anything like 'the power tripped in my flat'????
